Because we’re all dreaming of getting out of the house (especially now that California COVID-19 stay-at-home orders seem to have no end in sight), we thought it might be cathartic to revisit some of our favorite places we low-key cracked a Zaddy’s last year. Here’s some inspo for places in the Bay Area to look forward to cheers-ing at once it’s safe to do so. Remember to always pack out your trash!

And in the meantime—just FYI—it’s been said that cracking a few cans-o-Zaddy’s cures cabin fever (official scientific study coming out soon).

North Beach in Point Reyes

Zaddy’s pairs nicely with any beach, but North Beach in Point Reyes is most definitely a great place to start. Filled with epic scenery, and usually a nice break from the crowds, this beach is an excellent place to spend the day soaking up the sun and feeling that salty air hit your face, all while enjoying some cold cans. Maybe you bring some speakers and a book?! A picnic?! The beach is your oyster.

Bernal Hill, Bernal Heights

Are you in search of a chill hill? There are chill hills a plenty in the Bay Area, so you have to narrow down your favorites and decide what’s going to become your go-to canned cocktail, getaway place to perch—where you can take in big ol’ views of the city and reminisce over a crisp Corpse Reviver.  We like this hill because it’s pretty steep so there are not too many folks hanging at the top. This will give you an opportunity to likely grab a bench, crack a can, and definitely pack out your trash!!!

Albany Bulb, Albany

It doesn’t get better than watching a sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge, am I right? Any East Bay native will tell you that the Albany Bulb is a world class place to take one in. Although Google maps claims this shit is in Berkeley, I’m going out on a limb and saying that it’s in Albany? Anyhooo, there’s a ton of art and other cool stuff to stumble upon (like a castle) and one time I saw some lady playing grand piano under a tree and was wondering how the hell she got that out there. I feel like the road is gravel and would be tough with piano wheels. I’m no piano expert but i was confused as hell seeing that. The mark of a legendary place.

Pillar Point, Half Moon Bay (Maverick’s)

Tell you what, if you’re willing to make the trip and have a DD (because its an hour from the East Bay)—or if you’re lucky enough to be situated close to this phenomenon—get your ass down to Pillar Point, grab some cans, some binoculars (good ones), and watch surfers challenge one of the world’s most dangerous big waves from the comfort of a beautiful beach. Talk about a chill sesh/ thrill ride combo. Comparable to watching the big game from the comfort of your couch except you are watching hazardous massive waves being ridden about a mile out from the beach. Once you are down there make sure to support the local businesses in Half Moon Bay—grab some chowder and some beers, all of which kick ass!

Any Redwood Forest

We love our coastal Redwood Forests because aside from being jaw-dropping, humbling, insanely old, tall trees that comprise their own unique biome—they host a range of beautiful creatures such as mountain lions (big cute cats you don’t wanna F with), banana slugs (best slug in the world), coho salmon (sounds dank, love salmon), and the rare seabird known as the Marbled Murrelet (cute af). Redwoods also soak up more CO2 from cars, trucks, and power plants than any other tree found on earth. There are so many beautiful redwoods that can be found from Big Sur all the way up to southern Oregon, but the most famous may be Muir Woods in Mill Valley. Get your Ewok on and hike that bad boy and remember—pack out the trash (and pick up other rubbish if you see it too)!!!

Anywhere along the Russian River

The Russian River is the closest river us Bay Area folks can flock to when you want to have a float or just enjoy the calming trickle of a stream. There are a ton of inlets that you can plop a chair or towel down on and proceed to responsibly enjoy a few cans of Zaddy’s Gin Sonic!

This would be my river go-to because it’s just so damn drinkable when the sun’s beating down on you. Dare we try to coin the nickname “North Bay river water” for the Gin Sonic? Remember to respect the locals and the beautiful river because it is a damn gift from Mother Naytch!

Grizzly Peak, Berkeley

Grizzly Peak is a four bridge view of the entire Bay Area and it kicks total ass during a sunset. Although it’s moderately crowded, there are a ton of places to pull over and take in the view at a safe distance from others (bastard virus), and to sneakily crack a can. People generally spend around 20-30 mins here too, so usually a spot frees up if you’re stressed about parking (i might just be saying that I actually don’t know that to be a fact–some people could be absolutely posted). If you haven’t been to this Bay Area staple to take in a sunset, head down to your local retailer (ask them for some Zaddy’s), and head on up to the top of Berkeley.
