A few years ago, we got super into Gin Fizz cocktails. Don’t ask me why. Some of them didn’t even taste good. In fact, most of them didn’t taste good. They either had a way too thicc egg white addition so you were sipping warm cream and/or a maraschino cherry—which I’m pretty sure no one above the age of 6 has ever liked. Nevertheless, we kept ordering em’. There was something about the bubbly lemon, gin combo that kept calling our names.

Traditionally consisting of gin, lemon juice, sugar—shaken with ice and then poured into a tumbler with carbonated water—the Gin Fizz is best known as Tom Collins’ less sweet evil twin. In 1888, at his bar in New Orleans, Henry C. Ramos went all out by adding egg white, cream, lime juice, and orange flower water (ya, we had to Google that last one too). His brave ass creation went down in history as a Ramos Gin Fizz—a name The Roosevelt Hotel group trademarked in 1935, and they still make the drink today.

There’s also the Japanese Gin Fizz (where a shot of lychee liqueur is added to a standard gin fizz); the Sour Melon Fizz (gin, lime juice, Midori, and ginger ale); the Strawberry Gin Fizz (which is typically some added combo of strawberries and mint), and more. Because people have clearly been adding whatever the F they want to sparkling gin drinks for decades and labeling them gin fizzes, we decided to put our own twist on things. Our Gin(ger) Fizz is a balanced blend of lemon, gin, ginger, and honey—with the perfect amount of bubbles to make each flavor even more vibrant than the next. Think of it as a fizzy, gingery, Bee’s Knees cocktail that won’t knock you on your ass. Despite us using Meyer lemon juice for its sweeter taste, the drink isn’t too sweet, since we didn’t add any sugar. All 2 grams of sugar in each can comes from the organic raw honey and Meyer lemon juice. When we nailed this recipe over a year ago, we didn’t expect it to be so necessary for 2020. However, the consistent feeling of impending doom that’s only been exponentially increasing as the year progresses has drawn us to this drink even more. The ginger, lemon, honey combo has anti-inflammatory properties that help support the immune system and digestion. And if that’s not enough of a reason for you to replace your Bud Light Lime with a Zaddy’s Gin(ger) Fizz, just remember that we’re losing billions of bees each year! We must save them to protect our whole food system (that they largely pollinate) and our entire ecosystem! We’re sourcing our organic raw honey from the family-owned Glory Bee, and you can learn more/ help them save the bees HERE <3
